This is the second imported thread (from the old aboveunity site) about my ZPM:

For references I will keep the original posting date for every imported post.

One thing that I noticed in your configuration is the mounting of the 2 coils in a very specific place.
I think they do not want to be located on the gap as I have mounted them on the central gap, I think it matters, they must be located on each side of the gap.
Checking out this theory.

Did you leave a gap in your config fighter?

Jagau, there are no gaps in my ZPM. My coils are mounted in the middle of each U piece of the Metglas:

and your coils are mounted over the two places where the Metglas is cut.

I suppose the places where the coils are mounted on core don't matter. But if they matter then there is a difference between my configuration and your configuration.

Just to clarify, this is where my coils are mounted on the core:

And this is where your coils are mounted on the core:

As I said at this moment I have no data showing that the position of the coils on the core matters. Why do you think the positions matters, do you have any data indicating this ?

EDIT: could be a misunderstanding, let me clarify - by gaps I mean air-gaps, the spaces between the two U pieces of the core (the places where the core is cut as indicated by red arrows in the image below):

So yes this is a difference between my configuration and your configuration, If you think it matters then you could try to place the coils in the same positions like I did. I know it is difficult to place coil supports there, I needed to order to CNC pieces which could be put in place and when glued compose the supports.

This is a hand-made design I've made to explain to the CNC guy what exactly I want:

As a note: I've made these coil supports when I was trying to replicate Bearden's MEG so I wanted to place the coils on the core exactly as it's specified in the MEG schema.

I just received the Metglas core from DACPOL Poland, the company I ordered from the previous cores few years ago. I'm very disappointed, it's not made by Hitachi, it's made by UAML India and it's labeled UMCCC-200:

The characteristics of the core are specified on manufacturer's site here.

I complained to DACPOL and they say even if their site is showing Hitachi AMCC-200 here the site is not updated and they don't have AMCC-200 from Hitachi anymore (since 1-2 years ago) but they guarantee this one have the same characteristics as AMCC-200 from Hitachi. I can't be sure about what they say. They offered to send my money back and to return the core and they will pay for returning shipment costs. I did a quick search and seems there are no providers anymore for Hitachi AMCC-200 in Europe. So I guess unless I order from US (with price & shipment & EU import tax doubling the costs) the only option is to keep this one and give it a try even if I consider their trading practice very unprofessional and misleading. For the future I hope there will be another provider for the original Hitachi cores in Europe as I don't intend to buy from DACPOL anymore.

As I'll find some time I'll prepare the specs for new coil supports to send a order to CNC guys. I intend to make coil supports for ZPM configuration but also additional supports to test the device presented by Cd_Sharp here.

For future reference I'm adding this info here (copied from the AMCC C Cores Suppliers thread), seems there is a provider for Hitachi AMCC cores which I missed during my quick search:

If it could help, i bought mine at' Mouser elctronic

with with their description:

Mouser #: 205-AMCC0320

Mfr. #:

AMCC0320 Desc.: Ferrite Toroids / Ferrite Rings Ferrite Toroids / Ferrite Rings 79x129x50 Amorphous Cut Core

Jagau

They have AMCC-200 here.

For now I'll use the UMCCC-200 and I'll see what it can do.

Thanks Jagau !

Hi everyone.
I've been super busy with work, but I'm starting
to vacate, I will have more time from now.
I will catch up.

Thank you all in advance.

YoElMiCrO, I understand, I have a lot to do at work too so the new ZPM replication is progressing slowly.

When you have some time maybe you can publish info about your ZPM replication, I'm interested especially if your device have the specific waveform pattern on output and what's your conclusion about its COP. Thanks.

Finally, after waiting 10 days in the CNC schedule, my redesigned pieces for coil supports entered in production yesterday:

For making a coil support I made two kind of pieces:

I ordered enough pieces to build 8 coil supports with variable width.

I redesigned these pieces for full flexibility so I can build coil supports anywhere on the Metglas core, in any configuration:

Also I can build coil support with variable width.

The only limitation is the height of these supports, I will not be able to wire the same number of layers like I did with the previous supports because I wanted to also be able to have coils on upper side and on the lower side of the core (see the two parallel supports in the previous image).

But it's a limitation I can live with considering the advantage of full flexibility offered by the new design.

Also I bought some 1.4mm wire which I intend to use later in the primary coil (thicker wire, fewer turns) for a non-inductive coil experiment - Chris' device:

And I replaced the two old 10,000uF/50V electrolytic capacitors (one of them was burned by ZPM) with new 680uF/400V electrolytic capacitors on my old two-channels bridge rectifier using MBR 4045 PT Schottky diodes:

I intend to give it another try on ZPM's output, I'm sure I'll not get a clean DC output but at least to try to rectify the negative voltage side of the output.

Which model of AMCC received fighter?

t's UMCCC-200. The equivalent of AMC-200 from Hitachi. Just this one is not made by Hitachi, it's made by an Indian manufacturer. I hope it has the same characteristics, we'll see.
